Thank you for your interest in becoming a partner with OrganicHays.com. OrganicHays.com is a “horse hay” growers’ cooperative.
What we do, is establish buyer accounts that purchase annual amounts of hay from the state of California. More specifically, we inspect and test your hay and agree to purchase a specific number of bales, at the going rate of the market. That number will be taken from your barn(s) over a 12 month period. We then repackage the hay at your farm, pay you for it, and ship it to California. We also service all of the accounts there on a regular basis and handle any complaints, while upholding our 100% satisfaction guarantee. We never promise buyers more hay than we keep in storage. In addition, we handle and pay for all website advertising, marketing materials and salaries of personnel needed to accomplish our goals. We purchase all, of the needed tools and equipment such as, trucks, tractors, trailers, and computer resources, to keep them all conjoined.
We take the risk! OrganicHays.com pays you before the hay leaves your barn. All of the responsibility for labor in loading (if you choose to opt out), transportation, and unloading, along with all risks of total loss, are borne by us. All collections are also our responsibility.
Our cooperative purchases approximately 10% more hay than we have commitments for in California. At the beginning of each new crop, we take any remaining hay from the previous year, to auction. Again, we bear the burden of risk, if the hay brings less than our agreed price.
If you wish to become a partner, we demand access to the hay fields for inspection before harvest. We will mark any areas of non-acceptable hay. We require you to take soil samples, provide us with the results, and provide us with proof of fertilization. You must also agree to inform us of the use of any herbicides or pesticides and how they were applied. We also demand that you take a serious look at organic fertilization. Our horses have the best results with organically fertilized hay. It may cost more, but it is realized in the selling price. In order to push our effort, we will agree to pay the costs involved with your conversion to organic. You must always keep in mind that a healthy horse is our primary mission!
Finally, we have numerous farms that are partnered with us, currently. We would be glad to invite you to one of our cooperative meetings, so that you can meet our family of growers, and enjoy the same 100% satisfaction that they are already accustomed to. Again, we thank for your interest and you may contact, Tom Heshion at 816-728-2933 to set up our first visit.
